ABOUT POPCONLA
The Ultimate PopCulture Convention
PopConLA: the Popular Culture Convention,
which will be held July 5th through 8th at the LA Convention Center
around the 7th annual International Television Festival (ITVfest). There
will be scheduled screenings, panels, fashion shows, celebrity
signings, art show, live bands, comedians, etc. The festival brings in
thousands of people from around the world on its own, so by adding the
elements of PopCon we'll have a great turnout. We're going to be doing a
screening of Superman II with Q&A by Margot Kidder, Jack
O'Halloran, Valerie Perrine and possibly even Sarah Douglas. They
haven't been together for 30 years. We have some really exciting things
lined up. We will also be having a screening of Blade Runner followed by
Q&A with Sean Young, James Hong and Joanna Cassidy. Billy Dee
Williams of Star Wars fame will also be signing autographs. The Tim
Russ (Star Trek: Voyager) Band will be playing on Friday, July 6th at
8pm during PopCon as well as Bruce Boxlietner and Cindy Morgan from Tron
and Bai Ling of the Crow fame.

What’s New for ITVfest in 2012?
There are two key changes, that are important this year:
· ITVfest 2012 will be held in Downtown LA, at the LA Convention Center.
· A new event will be joining, and hosted by ITVfest, to run at the same time: Pop Con LA, Popular Culture Convention.
· Also, we are pleased to add a NEW submissions category: Spec Commercials.
When & Where?
Dates are: July 5-8, 2012.
Venue: LA Convention Center, in downtown Los Angeles.
Tell Me Briefly About ITVfest:
International Television Festival is the premiere festival in the world for independently produced TV pilots, WebContent and Digital Features, in both live-action and animated mediums.

In 2012, ITVfest will run concurrently with the 1st Annual 'Pop Con LA', the Popular Culture Convention.

quality Content. ITVfest gives finalists unprecedented access to network
with industry professionals, and is the place to jumpstart a career in
both television and new media.
What is Pop Con?
Pop Con LA, the Popular Culture
Convention, is about ‘All Things Pop Culture’: Art, Design, Fashion,
Music, Xtreme Sports, and of course, Movies & TV.
Pop Con will have an Exhibit floor area, as well as many fun activities going on, including some Special Events that will be scheduled as we get closer.
Also, another key goal of Pop
Con, is to bring in added visibility, to the Content creators and
Official Selections screenings, that will be going on for ITVfest.
Bringing in a more ‘consumer’ audience to our ITVfest selected works, we
think only adds greater value to those who submit their projects to
ITVfest in 2012!

Will You Have the CD ‘Speed Meets’ and the Producers ‘Pitch’ Sessions Again, Like Last Year?
Those were both very popular,
especially our first-ever CD’s session. Both are on our agenda, and we
expect to offer them as of now!
When Will We Know About Panels, Sessions, Speakers?
Like with many events of this
type, most of these will not be posted until we get much closer to the
events. Please check back starting in mid-June for updates.
ITVfest/STTV Combined Awards Ceremony – Tell Us More
One of the partners in ITVfest also owns a Video content platform, StayTunedTV.net, or STTV. Rather than have separate awards shows, the partners decided to combine both into a single event.
While the formats here will be played with in terms of handing
out awards to each, it should be noted that each set of awards, ITVfest,
and STTV, are in fact separate, with separate judges, processes &
criteria.
ITVfest Awards are offered only in specified categories of entry,
and only to nominees from the set of Official Selections in that year.
STTV Awards come in two categories: works aired on STTV, and Viewer’s Choice.
